Corporate Partner Spotlight: Capital One

Thanksgiving is just around the corner, but more than 900,000 of our New Jersey neighbors are at risk of going hungry on this special day. Here at the FoodBank, we’ve been working hard since spring to provide holiday meals, with help from some of our caring corporate partners, like Capital One.

Capital One supports our annual turkey drive with donations and a strong volunteer effort. They’ve provided the FoodBank with holiday food, as well as funds to purchase additional frozen turkeys. Capital One employees also volunteer at our turkey distributions, helping to keep the process smooth for our partner agencies, who then deliver the holiday meals to people in the community.

“Corporate philanthropy is essential in helping us feed our neighbors in need, especially during the holiday season, when hunger hurts even more than usual,” said Carlos M. Rodriguez, President & CEO of the Community FoodBank of New Jersey. “We’re grateful for Capital One’s support of our turkey drive to help ensure a happy holiday for all.”

Our friends at Capital One also help the FoodBank year-round, recognizing that hunger during the holidays is a moment in time that’s representative of a pervasive problem. They provide grants to feed children, supporting our Kids Cafes and the Food Service Training Academy, where students prepare daily Kids Cafe meals. Members of their leadership team have even attended Food Service Training Academy graduations to celebrate students’ achievements with us.

They volunteer regularly, as well, at both onsite activities and offsite events, contributing more than 300 hours to our cause last year alone.

“We couldn’t do what we do without the year-round support of partners like Capital One,” Carlos added.
