This past Saturday, CFBNJ provided boxes of food, water, fresh produce and household supplies to 400 Bergen County families still suffering in the wake of Hurricane Sandy. We teamed up with the Center for Food Action (CFA) for the distribution, first to 250 families in Little Ferry, then to another 150 families in Moonachie. A total of more than 3,000 homes, rentals units and businesses in the two towns were impacted by the storm, and many of the families were forced from their homes by flooding. Members of our SNAP (Food Stamp) Outreach Program were on hand to provide information and resources.
The residents were grateful for the help, and many were in tears. We also found another group of people still living in trailers because they lost their homes. We plan to return to the area soon for another food distribution.
We appreciate all who helped provide FOOD, HELP & HOPE to our Little Ferry and Moonachie neighbors.
