March is National Nutrition Month®, a great time to focus on healthy eating. Good nutrition is a crucial issue year-round at the Community FoodBank of New Jersey, because we see first-hand the effects of poverty on those we serve. Very often, because of the high cost of healthy foods such as produce and fresh, lean meats, those in need must buy lower-cost processed foods. Our 2014 Hunger Study found that 75 percent of those we help said they purchased inexpensive, unhealthy food just to get by.
