Advocacy Alert: Take Action!

The Community FoodBank of New Jersey is deeply distressed by the actions of both the House and Senate Agriculture Committees last week. The Farm Bill, which goes to both floors for votes in the coming weeks, makes deep cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (Food Stamps). The Senate bill would cut SNAP by $4 billion dollars over ten years, while the House would make even deeper cuts of $21 billion. Both reductions would disproportionately affect New Jersey residents and continue to harm those caught between the state’s high unemployment rate, currently 8.7%, and high cost of living. Drastically cutting programs that help feed struggling families, and shifting the burden to charitable feeding organizations already struggling to keep up with the demand, is both fiscally and socially irresponsible.

Urge your members of Congress to stand strong against cuts to hunger-relief programs by calling Feeding America’s Toll Free Number 1-877-698-8228 with this message.
